About the Artist

Hey hey!

I'm Emily and I make work that is boisterous and vibrant with unexpected details. These pots are truly meant to be loved and treasured. I aim to combine super fun surfaces, shapes and colors with seriously good craft.

I live and work in my hometown Rockford, Illinois with my partner and two children. Currently working towards opening a nonprofit, cooperative ceramics studio called Inferno Clay Studio.

I earned my BFA and MFA in Ceramics from Northern Illinois University in 2015 and 2019.
While in school I was consistently told I would need to have a nomadic lifestyle to be a "true" artist. Like there was only one way to do this career right. Immediately after graduating, I moved to Asheville, NC. What a wonderful city! But incredibly competitive. I worked at East Fork Pottery for two years and then moved back to Illinois to hopefully set up my own practice and teach within the community. Wow, I did what I set out to do! Working with the community I grew up in has been an honor. There is truly no place like home.
